Barking at Random

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 8, 2013, 5:39 PM
I'm pretty excited because I received a copy of Bark's  [link]  (aka Ronald Ray) book, "Barking at Random".  It is described as a 'short collection of random new work in a spiffy cover' – the photo on that spiffy cover is my photo! [link]   Bark is a wonderful writer whose work ranges from surreal, whimsical, and dark  to tender confessionals and always seems to conjure up amazing visuals for me.  His book is published by Lulu.com.  [link]

Well, I guess it was a matter of time. I've just been informed that my infrared photo, 'Woodland Path 3'  [link]  was being claimed by some creep on Flickr. They were reported but their account is still there. I checked his photostream and my photo isn't there anymore. I hope that's not the fix for this as it's likely other photos in his gallery are stolen as well. Flickr really needs to shut this account down.  If anyone is interested in checking to see if their art is in his collection, here is a link to his photostream:
[link]   I'm really annoyed with this but realize that it is part of the risk of posting online. :(

I submitted a photo  [link] to a juried exhibit and it got in! It is currently showing at the Darkroom Gallery [link]     The theme of the exhibit is Red. This is the first time I've ever done anything like this and am pretty thrilled my photo was accepted.

Hi everyone! In addition to jewelry, I've been including photos in my gallery.  It's funny how one thing leads to another. I used to be into photography awhile ago until my camera took a good hit, on the side of a mountain, & stopped working.  Many of the jewelry photos in the gallery were taken with a point & shoot film camera.  My friend suggested that I get professional photos of my work.  She pays $200 (American) for each piece - way out of my price range.  Also, Michael of CosmicFolklore suggested that I use a macro lens for jewelry photos, because it was hard to see the details of my pieces.  Well that was it! I got my old camera fixed & bought a used macro lens for a reasonable price.  In addition to being happier with the jewelry photos, I rediscovered how much fun photography is.  I use an OM1N manual 35mm camera with a Tokina 28-85mm 1:4 zoom lens & Olympus 50mm 1:3.5 macro lens.  I wouldn't mind having a digital camera, but that will be for sometime in the future.  What I have is paid for & works well enough.
